Paceville Entertainment

If you come to Malta to party, you should find accommodation in or near Paceville (the entertainment centre of Malta). The towns of Sliema, St. Julian’s, Swieqi and Pembroke are all situated in close proximity.

A lot happens in Paceville during the summer months, but mainly it’s good, loud partying! Safety is very important; a large police force (working with the clubs’ security guards) ensure that every argument is settled peacefully. Things can become a bit rough, but the Maltese are, in general, peaceful people, and it seems that their casualness and courtesy rub off onto the island’s visitors as well. Parties last the entire night and end only at the first light of day!

Well-known clubs: Footloose (good music mix), always a good party; Hawanna (hip hop), a very large club with a good atmosphere; Empire (house music); Qube, alovely vodka bar; Axis (a top club), fabulous vibe. Hugo’s Lounge is also a very trendy place, offering drinks and snacks in a comfortable atmosphere.

All clubs are situated along one street in the same area, so to get to the next club, you only need to walk a few steps! The so-called “club street” is completely empty during the day. People start pouring in from around 8 pm, and by midnight the street is packed to capacity. Often, you really have to fight your way through the masses and it can take several minutes to gain only a few metres.

Many other establishments have settled in the smaller streets adjacent to ‘club street’, including bars, pubs, cafés, souvenir shops and small shops selling snacks and beverages.

St. Julian’s – Spinola Bay (comfortable and calm, but still a top spot)

Slightly outside the party district of Paceville lies Spinola Bay. It is much more comfortable and much calmer than the club district. There are many restaurants and cafés with a wide variety of international cuisine (Asian, Italian, American and many more). The view from the many terraces onto the bay, with Sliema in the background, is beautiful! The promenade leading from St. Julian’s to Sliema, which is several kilometres long, invites you to take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront.
