Gozo´s Nightlife

Online since: 09. April 2013

There are five large-ish clubs on Gozo. However, the nightlife doesn’t just happen there – it can also be found in the small bars and cafés in the tourist villages of Marsalforn and Xlendi. In winter, when only a few tourists come to Gozo, the Maltese like to meet up in Victoria (Rabat), the capital of Gozo. Most bars, such as the bar Jubilee, are situated close to the market square (It-Tokk). It is rather small, but very comfortable. Sometimes, DJs provide good music there.

Clubs on Gozo:
Club Paradiso, Xlendi
KU club, Victoria
La Grotta, Xlendi (our tip)
The Rock, Marsalforn
XS Club, Victoria

The largest club on Gozo is probably La Grotta, located between Xlendi and Fontana on the slope of the Xlendi Valley. It is a club of superlatives – many even say it is one of the most beautiful clubs in the Mediterranean. The building is partly situated in a grotto, with bars, dance floors and a pizzeria stretching out over several levels. The club can accommodate up to 3000 people. Often international DJs work on the turntables, with the default music styles being techno and house. Unfortunately, La Grotta is open only in the main season, during summer.

There are two more clubs in Marsalforn. Rooks, situated on a spit of land surrounded by water on three sides, and Platinum, in the Hotel Calypso directly by the sea.

There are two opera houses on Gozo, named Aurora and Astra. Both of them are situated on Republic Street in the capital Victoria (Rabat), in the centre of the island.
