The town of Zebbug (sebudsch) is located in the centre of Malta. It is surrounded by Siggiewi to the south, Rabbat/Mdina to the west, Birkirkara to the north and Qormi to the east. In the town, on your way back to Qormi, the De Rohan Arc is worth seeing. It was built by Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc (1775-1797), after he had been elected Grand Master. He also awarded Zebbug its town charter. It is worth mentioning that both the sculptor Antonio Sciortino and the national poet Dun Karm Psaila were born in this town. The latter composed Malta’s national anthem. The town’s church, San Filippu, was built in 1599 by the architect Vittorio Cassar, the son of Valletta’s builder. During festivals in Zebbug, you will see fireworks mounted on rotating discs.
