Beach in Bugibba

What can Bugibba offer and how to get there?

Both cities, Bugibba and Qawra, are directly linked to each other. The cities developed together into one another. One can hardly recognize where Qawra begins and Bugibba ends.

The bay hardly offers sandy beaches, on the contrary is very rocky.
In some places the rocks are flattened out, in order to offer some sun bathing possibilities. It is not the best of comfort, but serves its purpose. In several places small ladders lead directly into the sea, in some other places one can even jump directly in the sea. On the promenade above the coast and the seaside itself are many kiosks. Prices are reasonable.

Neuer Strand in BugibbaAnnex: New Beach in Bugibba (11 April 2007)
In 2006, a new sand beach was created in Bugibba. However, dont get your hopes up about it. It is approx. 200 m long and serves as a lawn for sunbathing. The sand is protected from erosion by the sea by a small concrete wall, which you need to climb over if you want to go swimming. Behind the wall, the ground is rather rough and stony. Some metal railings are there, supposedly to ease your way into the water, but they look more like a makeshift solution than a properly-designed aid. The sand itself also leaves a lot to be desired, as it is very coarsely grained. If you prefer a proper sand beach, you should go to Mellieha or Golden Bay.
