Hagar Qim & Mnajdra Temple

Online since: 09. April 2013

Hagar Qim Temple

Near the village of Qrendi are the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temples. The temple complexes were built in two phases around 3500 BC and 2700 BC. Various changes were made to the layout, with specific regard to the angle and length of the temples, for unknown reasons. The large limestone ashlars were probably transported to the complex by rolling them on round stones. The temple’s altar, with its beautiful engravings, is also very interesting.
