Marsaxlokk fishing village

Marsaxlokk is the most well known fishing village in the south of Malta. It is located in the middle of a bay framed by the two headlands, Delimara Point in the southeast and Benghisa Point in the southwest (behind Birżebbuġa).

Marsaxlokk is a wonderful day-tour destination, but not ideal for stayovers, as there are only a few accommodations and no hotels. The market, one of the village’s attractions, is open every day from 9 am to 4 pm. During the week, the market is rather small and only a few people come to visit. On weekends, however, it extends along the entire promenade and many people come to shop here. Sunday is the busiest day.

Fish marketThe bay of Marsaxlokk, with its many traditional Dghajjes and Luzzu boats, is beautiful to look at. Maltas largest fishing fleet lies in the village’s harbour.

In the centre of Marsaxlokk, right next to the big church, you will find several good restaurants. We highly recommend you try some seafood and fish dishes, as they are extremely fresh!
